74PRATACULTURALSCIENCE(V01．26．No．12)12／2009Establish the pastoral agriculture system for desertification control inMinqinHouFu—jiang，ChangSheng—hua，NanZhi—biao(EngineeringResearchCenter ofPastoralAgriculture，Ministry ofEducation；Engineering andTechn0109yResearchCenter ofPastoralAgriculture inWesternChina，GansuProvince；KevLaboratorv of grassland andAgro—ecosystem，Ministry ofAgriculture，C011ege ofPastoralAgricultureScience and7Fechnology，LanzhouUniversitY；Lanzhou，China)Abstract：Process and control of desertification inMinqinCounty i s one of principal models inChina and even in the world．In history，there is an obvious one to one correspondence between acceleration of land desertification and large scale land reclamation，which mainly results from competlIion and in— tegration of sDecialized animal production(grazing)and specialized crop production(planting)．Based on the sDot investigations，analysis of literatures and field experiments，three main problems of cur rent agricuIture inMinqinCounty are summarized as follows：1)deterioration of environment'mainly including the critical shortage of aboveground water with flow break ofShiyangRiver，dramatic de cline of water table and deterioration of ground water quality；2)unreasonable planting structure of crop production，mainly including poor crop biodiversity，indiscriminalely profil seeking without limi— tation of water resource utilization and high risk of desertification and t he frequent replacement of cash crops；3)lOW level of technical support tO agro—ecosystem，including no extension ot wate。8aVlng1‘n— gation，undesirable effects of some high techniques，deficient integration of agricultural systems be— tween desert area and oasis area，unsystematic coordination among all kinds of desertification control measures．Consequently，establishment of pastoral agriculture systems could play a key role in control of desertification inMinqinCounly through adaptively integrating crop production with livestock pro— duetion in the light of ecological，productive and economic principles of agricultural structure optmn— zation．Key words：MinqinCounty；desertification；pastoral agriculture system；integrated crop—livestockP。o— duction system
